日常の中でふと気になる物や、出来事の結果として現れた形を出発点に、リトグラフやシルクスクリーン、トレース、拓本などの「なぞる／写し取る」行為を通して、イメージを分解・再構成している。

近年は、祖母の家にあった物や廃車になる実家の車など、愛着のある対象と、それをめぐる自分や家族の曖昧ですれ違う記憶を素材にしている。

対象を正確に再現・保存することよりも、写し取るたびに生じる不確かさやエラー、家族から受け継いだ「いい加減さ」を受け入れ、自分も予想しなかった別のイメージへ変わっていくことを大切にしている。

Beginning with objects that catch her attention in everyday life and forms that emerge as a result of events, Yurika Rokkon deconstructs and reconstructs images through acts of tracing and taking impressions, using lithography, screen printing, tracing, and rubbings.

In recent years, she has worked with objects to which she feels attached, such as belongings from her grandmother’s house and her family’s car destined for the scrapyard, alongside her own and her family’s vague, sometimes conflicting memories of them.

Rather than seeking to reproduce or preserve these objects faithfully, she embraces the uncertainty and errors that arise with each act of copying, as well as the “looseness” she has inherited from her family. She values the way an image can transform through this process into something she could not have anticipated.
